8D Photonics Wafer Mapping

The 8D IR Pioneer wafer mapping system can be installed on your existing optical table and fits nicely in a 3’ x 6’ area. Our entire closed-cycle cryostat and measuring system is contained in a laser safety enclosure. Vibration isolation allows the mapping system to coexist with a FTIR spectrometer on the same table for photoluminescence measurements of your materials.

Whole Wafer Cooling

In this example, a 150 mm wafer was cooled in the 8D Photonics IR Pioneer Wafer Mapping system, with verified temperature readings taken at the wafer center, wafer edge, and the temperature-controlled wafer stage. Surface temperatures, monitored with precision silicon diodes, closely followed the wafer stage setpoint, typically within ~2 K. A base wafer surface temperature of 28 K can be achieved. The IR Pioneer’s closed-cycle cryostat maintains these low, stable temperatures throughout measurement, ensuring both safety and reliability in every reading.

Safety by Design

At the heart of the IR Pioneer is a closed-cycle cryostat engineered for both performance and peace of mind. By eliminating the need for liquid cryogens, it removes the handling risks, supply constraints, and operational hazards associated with traditional cooling methods. The sealed system ensures stable, repeatable temperatures without operator exposure to extreme cold surfaces or gases. Integrated safeguards protect both the equipment and the wafer during cooldown and warm-up, delivering precise thermal control while keeping your team and your samples safe.
