Mission

Turning Charge Into Clarity

Founded in 2016, 8D Photonics was created to meet a critical need in wafer-level characterization of minority carrier lifetimes for infrared device wafers spanning 1 to 16 microns in wavelength. Recognizing the limitations of traditional measurement techniques, particularly for materials with low photoluminescence efficiency, we developed a system of microwave-based methods that offer unmatched sensitivity, especially for IR semiconductors. Since our founding, we’ve expanded our capabilities to include FTIR-based photoluminescence mapping and standalone point measurement lifetime systems that integrate seamlessly into your existing test setups.

Our headquarters is located in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA, just outside Albuquerque. From our facility at the base of the Sandia Mountains, in the heart of the American Southwest’s high-tech corridor, we draw inspiration from a landscape known for both its rugged beauty and rich scientific heritage.

At 8D Photonics, we don’t just build instruments—we build partnerships. Our systems are in use at leading universities, government research facilities, and private industry labs around the world. We take pride in working closely with each customer to deliver tailored solutions, whether you’re a materials scientist refining a new growth process or an engineer in need of rapid, precise wafer diagnostics.

We specialize in low-temperature measurement systems, and understand the importance of flexibility. Whether your application demands cryogenic temperatures or high-temperature stability, our systems are designed to adapt.

From research and development to deployment and support, we are committed to enabling your breakthroughs in infrared photonics and beyond.
